Overview

Blossom Tree Nursery experienced a sewage leak on-site, requiring an urgent reactive call-out to prevent further disruption and maintain a safe environment for staff and children.

Initial Assessment

Upon arrival, an inspection of the system identified that the maserator unit was not pumping sewage away as intended. This malfunction posed a risk of overflow and contamination.

Immediate Actions

To ensure safety and prevent further issues:
• All toilets connected to the system were isolated to prevent use
• The power supply to the maserator unit was switched off

Investigation & Findings

The maserator unit was dismantled for inspection. During this process, approximately 13 foreign objects (toys) were discovered obstructing the system, preventing normal operation.

Remedial Work
• All foreign objects were carefully removed
• The maserator unit and internal components were thoroughly cleaned
• The system was reassembled and restored to its original configuration

System Reinstatement
• Power supply to the maserator was reconnected
• Water supply to the toilets was turned back on

Testing & Outcome

A full operational test was carried out following reassembly. The maserator unit resumed normal function, successfully pumping sewage away without issue.

Conclusion

The blockage caused by inappropriate items being flushed was identified as the root cause of the failure. Swift isolation, thorough inspection, and effective removal of debris restored the system promptly, minimizing disruption to the nursery.
