Emergency callout following the attempted break-in at a well-known high street store, requiring an immediate response to make the building safe and secure again. Greenway Facilities Services were called in to ensure this.

Thieves had attempted to gain entry through the side of the building by removing cladding and concrete breeze blocks. This, in turn, exposed a void creating a possible entry point to the building. Extensive damage both internally and externally was caused which required immediate attention.

1. To work during the night to get the site back up and running as quickly as possible and in time for trading the following day. 2. To secure the building from the inside out and implement a strong, structural deterrent to prevent a repeat of the incident.

From the inside of the store, the internal wall cavities were strengthened and secured with wooden braces. Working with the store manager, the broken panels of the display cabinets were fixed and the backs strengthened to make them serviceable for trade. Alongside others repairing the cladding, a steel mesh was embedded into the concrete of the exterior to improve the external integrity of the building. A longer duration was required on site to make the entry point secure. and prevent a break-in.

All cabinets were back in service as requested by the management and the store made safe before it could be closed.  Accordingly, the store was ready for trade the following day. A further quote was requested to repair the brickwork outside the store.
