OVERVIEW:
Pre-booked planned maintenance to carry out the annual service and compliance checks of the main boiler in a large, commercial kitchen.

INVESTIGATION:
One of the Greenway Gas Safe engineers attended the pub property to undertake the servicing of the boiler which provides heat to the cooking appliances and hot water for the property. It is, therefore, essential that the condition and performance of the boiler is maintained to a high standard at all times.

CHALLENGES:
1. Special access to the property had to be arranged during the closure imposed as a result of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. 2. The engineer was required to adhere to additional health and safety measures to comply with social distancing and hygiene procedures.

SERVICES PROVIDED:
The boiler maintenance was carried out successfully. The main internal components of the boiler were removed, inspected and cleaned to ensure they were fit for purpose and had no noticeable defects. The pipework, flue and ventilation were also checked together with any signs of corrosion and leaks. All operating levels were checked to ensure the boiler was functioning within the required standards and the housing cleaned and replaced.  A full report was provided to the client.

OUTCOME:
The boiler service was completed in a timely fashion, with no follow on recommendations reported. All working surfaces were thoroughly wiped down and sanitised in accordance with current safety practices.  An appointment was made to service the boiler again the same time next year.
