It’s always very satisfying to be given the chance to restore a traditional building to its former glory as was the case with the recent redecoration works to the The Rising Sun public house in Pensford, Bristol, newly acquired by the St Austell Brewery group.

Greenway engineers attended the site to carry out works to the external walls and other parts of the premises in need of repair. All areas of loose paint and render were removed, filled and prepared for painting. The main front door was re-hung due to incorrectly fitted hinges making closing and locking very difficult, and then prepared for undercoating and finishing gloss coats.

Damage to the front porch required the installation of a new section of timber and the replacement of the lead work to the top of the porch. The front elevation and side elevation of the premises were then completely coated with a colour matched exterior paint.

The unpainted pitched roof barge boards to the side elevation had sustained consistent weather damage. Using UPVC Fascia boards the barge boards were covered and sealed to stop any water ingress and to prevent any further damage to the boards and roof area. Finally, new guttering was installed on the rear of the building.

The highest levels of health and safety were conducted at all times with high-level works carried out using a scissor lift and all working areas barriered off. Additional health & safety measures were adhered to by the team in line with current restrictions and guidelines.

The client was very satisfied with the works provided by the Greenway team and hopefully visitors to the pub will appreciate the make-over too.
