Project Overview
We were approached by a domestic customer to carry out a range of improvements and remedial works to their property.
The project involved replacing an ageing and deteriorated plastic roof system, repairing rotten timberwork, upgrading windows and external finishes, and completing several smaller maintenance and improvement works around the property.
The aim was to improve the property’s appearance, weather protection, functionality and overall finish, while ensuring the works were completed to a high standard.
The Works
Polycarbonate Roof Replacement
The existing plastic roof had reached the end of its serviceable life and required replacement.
We removed the old plastic roof and installed a new 16mm polycarbonate roofing system, supported by aluminium glazing bars.
As part of the roof replacement, we also changed the direction of the fall to improve water run-off. The existing timber wall plates and roof support timbers were found to be rotten, so these were removed and replaced with new suitable timber supports before the new roof system was installed.
This provided the customer with a stronger, more durable and weather-resistant roof structure.
2.Replacement Side Window
The existing wooden side window was removed and replaced with a new rosewood-effect PVC fixed window.
The new window provides a low-maintenance finish while complementing the property’s existing external appearance.
3. Barge Board, Fascia & Guttering
New barge board detailing was installed to accommodate the new rosewood PVC fascia.
The works were completed with black half-round guttering and downpipes, providing an improved rainwater drainage system and a clean, finished appearance to the roofline.
4. Rear Garage Window
An old, missing rear garage window opening was securely blocked up.
This restored the wall and provided a more secure and weather-resistant finish to the rear of the garage.
5. Garage Front Apex Cladding
Rosewood-effect UPVC cladding was installed above the garage door on the front apex wall.
This helped bring the appearance of the garage in line with the new window and roofline finishes, creating a more consistent and modern external appearance.
6. UPVC Shed Door Adjustment
The existing UPVC shed door was adjusted to ensure it operated correctly.
Following adjustment, the door was left opening, closing and operating as it should.
The Result
The completed works gave the property a significant external improvement.
The new 16mm polycarbonate roof and replacement timber supports provided a renewed and more durable roofing system, while the new rosewood PVC window, fascia and apex cladding created a coordinated finish.
The new guttering and downpipes improved the property’s rainwater management, while the garage and shed door works addressed existing maintenance and functionality issues.
Overall, the project combined roofing, joinery, UPVC installation, cladding, guttering and general property maintenance to deliver a comprehensive improvement for the customer.
Customer Outcome
The customer now has a refreshed, low-maintenance and more weather-resistant external area, with the various improvements working together to provide a cleaner and more cohesive finish to the property.
